Zebra Print Diaper Cake

Create Your Own Zebra Print Diaper Cake 

 

These cakes are a great gift to give a new mom. As you know, you go through TONS of diapers on a daily basis so getting extras are always appreciated.

You can buy diapers cakes that are professionally made, but they are so easy to make that I highly recommend that you give them a try yourself.  If you fail, just give the mom all the diapers anyway!

Here is what I did:

Buy a package of diapers.  Roll each one of them up real tight and use a very small amount of tape to keep the roll.  Once you have them all rolled, I used an Angle Food pan and placed them in there so that I created the round base.  Once in the pan, it's easy to slip a few large rubber bands around the whole group (use large elastics).

Once you have the rubber bands in place, take the "cake" out and decorated it with large ribbon or cardstock paper (you don't want flimsy paper).

Use a smaller bowl to create your second layer.

Then add any finishing touches that you want on top.

Voila!  Your cake is complete.

I found a lady who makes custom soaps as shower favors.  She takes a look at your shower invitations then matches everything to make her beautiful soaps.

Not only does she make beautiful soaps, but she helps out those with questions so that they can make their own.

I sure wish that I had her talents.

They are so beautiful I don't think that I would want to use them!

How to Make Zebra Print Party Decorations

If you would like to make your own zebra print party decorations, Parents Magazine created a two minute video which gives you some ideas and techniques to create your own decorations.

Simply pick the colors you want.  You may choose to have something other than black and white as pink zebra stripes are very popular for little girls.  And as such, blue zebra stripes for little boys.  But don't forget purple, green, red, yellow and orange - especially if you want to be gender neutral.
